Most wheel brushes are safe to use on all wheel types. Our wheel brushes are made from a variety of bristle types, such as boar hair, microfiber & synthetic materials. It is more dependent on the type of finish you have. If your wheel finish is particularly sensitive, like uncoated/treated wheels, or chrome - then it’s best to use a bristle that is more gentle, such as microfiber or boar hair. Generally speaking, the brushes we stock here at Waxit are safe for the majority of wheel types, but to be safe, more sensitive wheel finishes should usually steer more to the softer materials.
Usually no. Not to say that these brushes can’t be used on tyres, it’s more they just won't be effective, from an ergonomic point of view, and practically with the materials used. This is particularly evident if you are using a shallow, softer bristle - such as boar hair or microfiber. They just won’t be effective on tires. You really need something with a stiffer, longer bristle. Vikan has a number of brushes that are suitable for wheels & tyres, but we also stock a variety of specialised products, such as the Economax Tyre Brush which is perfect for tyres.
Usually just running these brushes under running water, or hosing them down with a pressure washer is enough to dislodge any built up grime, dirt & contaminants. It can also be worth spritzing an all-purpose cleaner and/or wheel cleaners on them during/after use to increase their cleaning power, and help rinse them out in the process.
Yes, you should definitely use these brushes in combination with a suitable wheel and tyre cleaner. You can either spray the area with a wheel and/or tyre cleaner, and then agitate with a brush - or you can spritz some of the cleaner on the brushes directly. This will greatly improve the cleaning power of your wheel & tyre cleaning processes.
Technically, you could - but it won't be very effective. Interior surfaces by nature are much more delicate. These interior detailing brushes are smaller, use a very soft bristle, and aren’t really suitable for wheels. The only thing they may be ideal for, is perhaps going around log nuts, and small intricate areas of the wheel.
