Convertible Top Care
Convertible top care comes down to two things, a cleaner that lifts dirt and mould without soaking the fabric, and a protectant that keeps water and UV out so it doesn't come back. Fabric soft tops and vinyl tops need different products, so this collection covers both, from a gentle convertible top cleaner through spray on protectants to fabric coatings that last a season or more. The plastic and trim dressings here also look after the rubber seals around the hood, which is the bit most people forget.

FAQ's: Convertible Top Care
Fabric or vinyl, cleaner or protectant, and how not to make it worse. These are the questions we get asked the most.
Still unsure? Ask us ›Is my convertible top fabric or vinyl, and does it matter?
Fabric needs a low foam cleaner and a fabric protectant that soaks into the weave. Vinyl needs a surface cleaner and a dressing that sits on top. Using a vinyl dressing on fabric leaves it greasy and attracts dirt. Using a fabric guard on vinyl does nothing at all.
How do I clean a convertible top?
Let it dry completely before you protect it, which on a fabric top can mean overnight. Putting a protectant onto damp fabric traps the water in.
How do I protect a convertible top, and how long does it last?
A proper coating like C.QUARTZ Fabric 2.0 bonds into the fabric and lasts a year or more, with water beading off the hood at speed and dirt rinsing away instead of staining. It costs more and takes longer to apply, but if the car lives outside it's the one that saves you the most work over time. Whichever you use, do the rubber seals at the same time with a trim dressing, they crack and leak long before the fabric does.
