About Koch Chemie (GS) Green Star

Green Star is the all purpose cleaner you dilute for whatever the job is. Engine bays and exterior grime at 1:5 to 1:30, interior plastics at 1:10 to 1:20, and never stronger than 1:3. At pH 12.5 it has the punch to shift grease, oil and embedded dirt, and corrosion inhibitors keep it safe on anodised aluminium and other sensitive metals.

It is phosphate and solvent free, which makes it kinder than a traditional degreaser, and it is at home on plastics, trim, vinyl and rubber as much as on wheels and engine bays. Most people buy the 5 L because it never stops being useful.

Our tip: add 10 to 30 mL per litre of your foam cannon mix. It gives the foam real degreasing power for a pre-wash, especially handy on a coated car where a neutral foam does not do much.

Note: the 1 L bottle does not include a spray trigger.

Directions
  1. Dilute for the job (see dilutions).
  2. Apply with a sprayer, brush or foam cannon.
  3. Dwell up to 5 minutes. Do not let it dry.
  4. Agitate if needed.
  5. Rinse thoroughly, or wipe and extract on interiors.
Dilutions
  • Exterior and engine bays: 1:5 to 1:30
  • Interior plastics, vinyl: 1:10 to 1:20
  • Workshop floors: 1:40 to 1:120
  • Never stronger than: 1:3
  • Foam cannon booster (our tip): 10 to 30 mL per litre of foam mix
Safety
  • Test on an inconspicuous area first.
  • Not in direct sun or on hot panels. Never let it dry on the surface.
  • Gloves and eye protection. Work in a ventilated area.
  • Keep away from children. Store cool and dry.

    using it on wheels

    Sorry to hear you aren't super satisfied with Green Star, it is not intended to be a standalone cleaner for wheel wells. You can use it in conjunction with a dedicated wheel cleaner to help broaden the cleaning profile but I wouldn't expect phenomenal results from Green Star in the wheel well as a standalone product.

    Excellent cleaning power for the price you pay

    very versatile.

    I've tried adding 10-30mls in Gsf for extra cleaning power.

    I've tried using it alone as a pre wash (1:10 in marolex ergo 2000 sprayer). ran my hand in the vehicle after prewash, can't feel anything catching my fingers. Sometimes you need that extra strength to soften and remove dirt, so that you wont scratch your car when you do a contract wash. Better to potentially damage the sacrificial layer of wax or sealant then reapply again, rather than damage your clear coat in contact wash because your pre wash is too gentle.

    I've also tried it as a wheel cleaner. I know it's not a designated wheel cleaner but I clean my wheels every two or three weeks and this product is enough. So far I can't justify myself to buy a specific wheel cleaner.
