What’s the difference between SDO and HDO Lake Country Pads?
HDO pads are designed for long-throw dual-action polishers and feature a two-layer construction - including a firm interface foam and cooling channel for better heat management and pad durability.
SDO pads simplify the design into a single-layer foam structure. They still offer excellent cut, finish, and heat regulation via a centre hole, but at a more affordable price - making them ideal for general use and short-stroke machines.
What size pad am I looking for?
The SDO pads come in 3.5”, 5.5” or 6.5” options. Match them to your polisher's backing plate:
- 3.5” pad fits 3” backing plate
- 5.5” pad fits 5” backing plate
- 6.5” pad fits 6” backing plate
Make sure to size based on your backing plate, not the face of the pad.
How do I clean and maintain these pads?
After each use, rinse the pad under warm water and massage out any polish or compound residue. For deeper cleans, use a foam pad cleaner or APC diluted 10:1.
Let pads air dry completely before storing. Avoid high heat or direct sunlight, and store flat to prevent warping.
Can I use these pads with any polish or compound?
Yes - SDO pads work well with most compound and polish systems including Scholl Concepts, Nv, CARPRO, Koch Chemie, and others. Each foam type is tuned for a specific stage:
- Blue = Cutting compounds
